The Creation of Eternal Pt.1

Welcome to the first official blog post of ETERNAL!! Here I will be sharing insight of the creation of the brand, influences that it came from, and the message I'm promoting through the clothes.

I've always been into fashion of some sort, not high fashion but just specifically making a whole outfit come together. My first introduction to vintage clothing was shortly after my father passed. My mom had a bunch of his old shirts, hats and jackets that I spent hours going through. Surprisingly a lot of the clothing were well kept, and I could wear to school. snapbacks were becoming huge, but nobody was wearing throwback hats. Only the big square Mitchell & Ness hats haha. I still have a never worn Chicago Bulls championship shirt in my closet, still with the sticker on it. I think that is my greatest piece.

All of this clothing was over 20+ years old, and was still relevant things to wear. Nobody I knew really wore clothing like that at that time. This made me really want to take better care of my clothing, so I could keep it as long as possible. Also, so my kids can experience the joy of finding vintage clothing from years before. I view clothing, specifically graphic shirts and hoodies like music. It will always find it's way back into a current trend, and it can take you back to a specific time or place like nothing else can.

This sounds conceited when I say this, but nothing about ETERNAL regarding the name, background of the logos, etc. ever took more than 5 minutes to think about. This doesn't include all research about creating a clothing brand, or how to even start a business. I did a lot of praying, and I believe God wanted me to start this brand, and speak through the images and sayings that are on my clothes.

"ETERNAL" instantly popped in my head as a word that would stick in ones mind. I wanted my brand name to be one word, something that is simple but you can't forget. My personal favorite is the brand PALACE, or everybody's favorite SUPREME. The first day I was sketching logos the "WRLD" logo was something I needed, as well as the "HEARTBREAKER". That day I probably drew 10-15 different designs for probably the next 2 years if I needed. The next collection already has the theme in place and the overall design of the shirts sketched.

The 2 quotes I have; "Recycle your thoughts" and "Pray for the sick and the suffering" were the last things I put on my shirts before I put in the orders for the samples. I felt I needed something that when you read it, it would stick in your head and not be a cheesy Forever 21 quote on a cool shirt. Both quotes took less than 3 minutes of thinking to come up with, but I feel is a big piece of the what ETERNAL stands for. I want my wordplay to be as loud as the images on my clothing, and plan to continue this trend in the future.

If you've gotten this far I'd like to thank you for taking the time to learn about ETERNAL, and what it means to me. At the end of these posts I'll try to share some future plans, or shirt ideas for the brand...

HUGE INFLUENCE :)

Thanks again, Jonathon
